New Substack for the terrific writer Michael Marshall Smith. In a roundabout way, Maps owes its existence to his short stories, as many years ago they're what started me writing in the first place.
Regular readers of Maps of the Lost will have read me banging on about the terrific Lovecraft Investigations audio/podcast series, and Julian's development of his wider mythos across a lot of his audio work. Development Hell is a spin-off from his regular newsletter Cartoon Gravity, which is going to focus on the processes and challenges of writing script for screen or audio. Any aspiring writers out there - highly recommend this.
Some Substacks are on a theme, some are just plain interesting. This is from the eponymous folk duo whose music is rooted in tradition but explores 'the wyrd and the eerie of the landscape.' How could anyone who reads Maps not like that? The newsletter though isn't just about their music, but wanders through the strange and the interesting. Am really looking forward to reading more.
